changing every “i should have known better” to “i know better now”. i will not judge past versions of me through the lens of who i am now.
not everything has to be productive. you are allowed to be a little silly and goofy. you are allowed to rest. take some time for yourself today. there is so much more to life than work, and you deserve to experience it. feel the sun on your face, stretch your body, call a friend, have a little fun. your work will not suffer for it & will be there when you’ve had some time.
I just want to remind you that sometimes your life really doesn’t begin until you are 26+… Romanticizing and obsessing over our youth is harmful. Growing up is beautiful. Discovering who you are and how you interact with the world is a gift. Maturing and learning what you truly want out of life and living in that purpose brings fulfillment and peace. Your life is not over in your early 20’s because you haven’t figured it out yet, it’s just beginning.
there is no such thing as being “behind in life” but it’s okay to recognise that you missed out on some things whilst you were busy surviving
sometimes i wish i could grab my childhood self and shake them by the shoulders and say YOU’RE GOOD. YOU’RE WORTH LOVING. THERE ARE PEOPLE WHOSE LIVES ARE MADE BETTER BECAUSE OF YOU. YOU ARE NOT A BURDEN. YOU ARE NOT DAMNED. SOMEDAY YOU WILL CRY OVER SUNSETS AND POETRY MORE THAN YOUR OWN PAIN. I NEED YOU TO REMEMBER THAT YOU’RE GOOD. YOU’RE WORTH LOVING. but i can’t go back in time, so i say it to myself now. because i believe there’s a future version of me looking back on this moment feeling the exact same way.
i hope you buy things that bring you joy. i hope you wear clothes that make you feel good. i hope you decorate your home however you like. i hope you don’t wake up dreading going to work. i hope you meet people that make your heart sing. i hope you discover hobbies that fulfill you. i hope you go on fantastic adventures that give you unforgettable memories. i hope you do things just because you want to, and i hope you don’t feel like you have to justify your decisions to anybody. i hope you find happiness. i hope you cultivate a life you love.
